You can manage your products more efficiently and clearly by organizing them into product categories.
Products can be classified into four levels: Main category, Subcategory 1, Subcategory 2, and Subcategory 3.
Adding product categories
You can create categories that will be displayed on your storefront.
The category structure supports up to four levels: Main category, Subcategory 1, Subcategory 2, and Subcategory 3.
Adding and reordering categories
Click Add main category to create a new top-level category.
After the category is added, click its name, then click the + icon on the right to add a subcategory.
To expand and view subcategories, click the arrow icon to the left of the category name.
You can reorder categories by clicking and dragging them to the desired position.
After rearranging, click the Save button to apply the changes.
Categories will appear in the storefront menu in the same order shown here.
Setting category details
You can view and edit the details of each product category you have added.
Since category names are displayed on the storefront, we recommend using names that are clear and easy for customers to understand.
Click the Category URL to view it on the storefront.

Using translated category names for global stores
By default, global stores inherit the category names from your default store.
To use a translated name, do not apply the default store settings and enter the translated category name.
- Select the global store where you want to edit the category name.
- Go to and select the category to translate.
- Uncheck the Apply default store information option for the Category name field.
- Enter the translated name, then scroll down and click Save.
- Setting display status and home page visibility
Use the Display on and Display on home page fields to control whether the category appears in the storefront and its menu.
- Setting product layout by category
In Layout by category, you can set the display order of products in each section—Products, Recommended products, and New products.
- Setting out-of-stock product display
To display out-of-stock or not-for-sale products at the end of the product list, select Last in product list for Display out-of-stock products.
To keep the existing display order regardless of stock status, select Among other products.
Caution
When products do not appear in the set order on the storefront
Check if subcategory products are set to be displayed

If Display products in subcategories is set to Yes, products from lower-level categories will also be shown under the parent category.
In this case, the product layout order may not match the order you set in the category settings.

To make sure the layout order in the admin is reflected on the storefront, set Display products in subcategories to No:
- and click the name of the category you want to edit.
- Set Display products in subcategories to No and click Save.
